Your mattress is infested with dustmites. These are microscopic creatures which live not only in mattresses but all over your home. However it is in the mattress that they thrive, breed and excrete. We lose ½ kilogram of skin every year and a lot of this skin enters the mattress. This decomposing flesh becomes rancid, and becomes the primary source of food for the dustmites. Dustmites live up to 150 days and during their life cycle they excrete two hundred times their body weight.

A two year old mattress contains about one million living dust mites, countless dead ones, and a high level of dust mite excrement (mite feces) which is so toxic that it will cause (if not already) major problems to your health, allergies, asthma, coughing and other disorders relating to ears, eyes, nose and throat. This excrement soon transforms from a microscopic state to a fine dust which is churned up as we turn in our sleep, the mattress acting as a bellows sending this contaminated dust into our airwaves, ears and eyes.

Body fluids also enter the mattress on a daily basis, mainly perspiration; saliva and urine, which when mixed with the flakes of skin produce bacteria which cause the “bedroom smell”. If you steam clean or wash your mattress, you activate these bacteria. Chemicals will destroy the bacteria but then you are sleeping in chemical poisons.

For those of you who wake up with bloodshot eyes, an itching or running nose, cough, shortness of breath and skin rashes the chances are that you have had direct contact with the allergen that is found in Dust Mite Feces.
